Why Changing Your Dream is Okay

Everyone has a dream. If they don't then they have a goal. That is a dream as well. We are all striving to get somewhere in life and to accomplish something. To accomplish our dream. We work hard everyday, we do everything we need to in order to reach that dream, and we almost always succeed if we work hard enough. There are very few times where someone works hard and does everything they need to in order to accomplish their goal or dream and don't succeed. However, what if someone doesn't want to have the same dream or goal anymore? Well it is okay.

Dreams can change. They are allowed to. You don't need to stick to the same one your whole life. Sometimes you get to a point where you are working hard and doing everything you need to, but it isn't worth it anymore. That is okay. You can change your dream.

Dreams are concrete. You could change it at the age of 10, 18, 30, or even 50. There is no limit on when you can change your dream or goal. This could be a career goal, a life goal, or just a minor goal. They are all dreams that you can change.

They aren't stuck with you. There is no reason why you need to stick to the same goal or dream. It doesn't make you a failure. It makes you a human being. It makes you go after what you really enjoy in life.

Whether the work is too much, you don't enjoy what you are doing, or you just don't see yourself there anymore, you can change that dream. No one will look at you any differently and if they do then they don't understand, most likely because they are happy with their dream.

Dreaming is hard work, but accomplishing and going after that dream is even harder. So why make it harder on yourself when you don't have to?

Have you ever changed you dream or your goals? Did it make you feel less about yourself?

  1. Actually really needed this post today, so thank you! I've always dreamt of having my own kids and being a teacher. While I still want these two, I'm not sure anymore that they're worth all this stress and work. Kids? Yes. The job? No. But either way we still all have goals and dreams. Is it bad to dream to just be happy?

    1. Definitely not a bad thing to dream to be happy. Definitely one of my dreams is to be happy and successful. From there I have no limitations on what I do to achieve that. Even if being successful is just being happy.

  2. I changed my dream of wanting to be an artist but when it become too much like a business and it wasn't fun for me my dream changed and I focused on my writing, something I had a lot more control over, and now I'm thankful I had changed my dream.

    Great post :)

  3. This puts everything into perspective! I really enjoyed reading this!

  4. I loved reading this post, it's so True, changing your dreams is OK. I often dreamed of working in travel and having a big family but now my dreams have changed to owning my own photography studio and maybe having another child. As we grow our dreams and aspirations change and some people feel at a loss because their change their minds when it's really ok. I think your post will have helped a lot of people to realise that it's not a big deal and it's perfectly fine to change your mind.

  6. I really loved reading this post! I've changed my dream a few times, and that is okay. The more I grow and learn and see and discover, the more I realize what I actually want. Heck, I used to think I wanted to be in the medical field. Heck no. Totally wrong and totally happy I changed that dream.
